Easter Seals Speech Language Pathologist Campus Interviews

Professional Career Expo

The Career Services Office will host its Fall Professional Career Expo tomorrow, October 23 from 12 - 3 p.m. in Hubbard Hall.  Over 30 employers have registered to participate, including AT&T, the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration), Fidelity Investments, Georgia-Pacific, Northwestern Mutual-Fort Worth, Texas Campaign for the Environment, Texas Department of Family & Protective Services, The Kids Corral, and Walgreens to name a few.  Visit www.twu.edu/downloads/career/Professional_Career_Expo.pdf for a complete list of the employers that have registered.

The Student Union Referendum is here!!  It is now in your hands to vote.  Voting will begin tomorrow morning, Tuesday, October 16 at 6 a.m. and the voting will conclude on Wednesday, October 17 at 9 p.m.  This is an online referendum.  You can click the link below to cast your vote.  If you are asked to login, use your full TWU email address and your current password.    Finally, the resolution for the Union has been listed below for your review.   We appreciate your vote – the choice is now yours! 

 
RESOLUTION IN FAVOR OF IMPLEMENTING A STUDENT UNION FEE INCREASE

WHEREAS an increase in the Student Union fee will enable the university to build, maintain, operate, and increase services on all TWU campuses and;

WHEREAS students have requested additional space, services, and expanded programming and;

WHEREAS the existing Student Union on the Denton campus is 42 years old and in need of repair, remodeling, updating, and expansion and;

WHEREAS existing Union services on the Dallas and Houston campuses are in need of expansion and have been requested by students and;

WHEREAS it is the recommendation of each Student Government Association’s Executive Board that this referendum be passed and;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the student body that there will be a proposed fee of $149 per fall/spring semester and $75 for the six week summer session for the Student Union for the purpose listed above beginning Spring semester 2014.

Fall 2012 Payment Deadlines

  • August 21; 6 p.m. - Early Registration Phase I Payment Deadlines for ALL Fall 2012 Terms. All non-paid registrations will be dropped. Students may re-register Aguust 22 - 24 without incurring a late registration fee. 
  • August 24; 6 p.m. - Registration Phase II Payment Deadline for ALL Fall terms. All non-paid registrations will be dropped. Students may re-register during late registration and incur a late registration fee. 
  • August 27-30 - Late Registration Period. Late registration fee will be applied.
  • August 30; 6 p.m. - Minimum payment and acceptance of the online payment plan agreement must be made by this deadline for late registrations. If not, students will be dropped from the class roll. 
  • August 31 - September 12 (Census Day) - Druing this time period, students can go to the Registrar's Office and re-register, except for Fall 1 term which is not allowed. Minimum payment and acceptance of the payment plan (via 'Pay Online' link on TWU homepage or on Current and Future Student Pages) MUST be completed at time of transaction. If payment is not received and payment agreement has not been completed, all registration transactions will become void and student will be dropped from the class roll. No new registrations permitted.
  • September 13-24 (20th Class Day) - All reinstatements must have the approval of the appropriate Director (Registrar, Financial Aid or Bursar) through the Student Problem Resolution Procedure. If approval is granted, payment MUST be made at the time of reinstatement.
  • After September 24 - No reinstatements will be approved or made unless there is an error on the part of the University.

Education Career Day Next Friday


The joint TWU/UNT Education Career Day will be held next Friday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the UNT Denton Campus Coliseum.  Over 50 employers will be available to provide information regarding various types of  full time employment opportunities within education such as Occupational Therapists, School Counselors, Teachers, etc.

Remember to bring copies of your resume to distribute and that business professional attire is required. 

NOTE:  This event is only open to TWU & UNT students and alumni.

Golden Key National Honor Society Book Drive

Collection bins will be available in the TWU Denton Student Union – 2nd Floor, Chemistry Building, and the Art Building. Bins will also be available in the Dallas Campus Student Union through May 10, 2012.

Golden Key International Honour Society has partnered with Better World Books (www.BetterWorldBooks.com) to run a book drive that will benefit the literacy initiatives of Better World Books Drive and we would love to have your support! Donate your unwanted textbooks, children’s books, fiction, etc. (highlighting/writing in the books is fine).

Books collected by the TWU chapter of Golden Key Honour Society will be sold online through Better World Books to raise a sustainable stream of funding to support the Invisible Children organization. If the books cannot be donated or sold, they are recycled.

Voertman's Juried Student Exhibition Reception

Please join us for the Annual Voertman's Juried Student Exhibition April 3 - April 12. A reception for the artists and awards ceremony will be Tuesday, April 3, 4 - 6 p.m. at the Department of Visual Arts, Fine Arts Building.

Summer & Fall Early Registration Reminder & Information

This is a reminder that early registration for the Summer and Fall 2012 academic terms starts next week, Tuesday April 3rd, beginning with graduate students and special priority undergraduate groups.

Meningitis Vaccination Requirement:  New, transfer, and returning students under the age of 30 will need to provide meningitis immunization documentation prior to being allowed to register for courses.
  • Students will be able to submit their immunization documentation directly to either the Office of the Registrar or the Office of Student Records for immediate processing. 
  • Students wishing to utilize the distance education exemption will be allowed to register for courses that have been coded in the system as being 100% online (no face-to-face component), regardless of the student’s immunization status.  Students no longer have to complete a request form to utilize this exemption.

Dallas ISD Alternative Teacher Certification - Campus Interviews

Dallas ISD is looking for more candidates for their Alternative Teacher Certification program who are interested beginning a career as a professional educator. Representatives will be on campus to conduct interviews on Thursday, March 29. Certification areas include Bilingual, Math, Science, and Special Education. Interested students should call Career Services at 940-898-2950 to schedule an interview, should apply online at www.teachfordallas.com and bring a copy of their resume to the interview. Professional Career Expo - This Wednesday

The Career Services Office will host its spring Professional Career Expo this Wednesday, March 28 in Hubbard Hall from 12 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Employers will be on campus to provide information regarding internships and full-time employment opportunities. Some of the additional employers that have registered include Little MusicMaker, Heartland IT Consulting, Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Texas Campaign for the Environment, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
