12th Annual Student Creative Arts and Research Symposium

The 2009 symposium will be held on Tuesday, April 21, and Wednesday, April 22, 2009, followed by TWU's Convocation and Homecoming celebrations.

  • The website for this year's symposium can be found at http://www.twu.edu/research/symposium.html.

  • The schedule is available at http://www.twu.edu/research/symposium_schedule.html.

  • Get involved! Undergraduate and Graduate students from all campuses can participate by submitting an abstract for a poster, platform, or virtual presentation. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to develop confidence and skills in presenting your creative arts and research to others. It is also an opportunity for you to converse with faculty and fellow students about research and creative activities. You may request oral, poster, or virtual presentation formats. Instructions are found at http://www.twu.edu/research/symposium_abstract.html. Again this year the Symposium Planning Committee will fund student poster preparation. Information is available on the Symposium website. Deadline for abstract submission is February 26, 2009.

  • Plenary Speaker: This year's speaker will be Dr. Catherine Middlecamp, Distinguished Faculty Associate and Director of the Chemistry Learning Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds a joint appointment in the Department of Chemistry and the Integrated Liberal Studies Program where her work has been recognized by university and national awards for excellence in teaching and leadership. In 2003, Dr. Middlecamp was elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and in 2004 a Fellow of the Association for Women in Science. The title of her presentation is "Does This Plane Have Wings ...? ". Other sessions about research and creative arts are planned throughout the Symposium.
